MANILA, Philippines – Airlines should not use Monday’s magnitude 6.1 earthquake as an excuse for cancelled or delayed flights to and from Manila, Manila International Airport Authority (Miaa) General Manager Ed Monreal said on Wednesday .

He also assured passengers using the Ninoy Aquino International (Naia) terminals that it is business as usual and that there should be no cause for alarm following yesterday’s earthquake.
Monreal bared that he has received reports that a domestic carrier has been cancelling outbound and inbound Manila flights.
Hence, Monreal reminded airlines not to “burden passengers with the inconvenience that may result to disruption of passengers’ travel plans.”
Monreal earlier said that Naia runways did not sustain any damage as a result of the earthquake that struck parts of Central Luzon and Metro Manila Monday afternoon. / gsg
