MANILA, Philippines — The Metro Rail Transit Line 3 (MRT 3) operations will resume on Tuesday, after being suspended Monday afternoon due to a magnitude 6.1 earthquake that rocked part of Luzon, including Metro Manila.
According to the MRT 3 management, inspectors found no structural defects throughout the 16-kilometer rail system, prompting its consultants from the Asian Development Bank (ADB) and the MRT 3 Maintenance Transition Team (MTT) to give the green light.
“After thorough assessment conducted by MRT-3 ADB consultants together with the MTT, MRT-3 says it shall resume its mainline operations tomorrow, 23 April 2019,” MRT 3 said. “This is after the inspectors found no structural defects in all of its structures, including the tracks.”
“We want to ensure the integrity of our structures post-quake before allowing public use,” the management added.

According to the Philippine Institute of Volcanology and Seismology, the quake was felt at Intensity 5 in Quezon City, where five of 13 MRT 3 stations are located.
