MANILA, Philippines — At least 59 persons were reported injured while 19 others were still missing in Porac, Pampanga, after a magnitude 6.1 earthquake shook several parts of Luzon, according to the Philippine Red Cross (PRC).
In a post on its Facebook page, PRC said that authorities were still conducting search and rescue operations for the missing persons, while the injured had been brought to Jose Sungco District Hospital in Porac.
“Our PRC team has checked in at the command post in Porac, Pampanga, ready to assist in the search and rescue operation. As of 9 pm, there were 12 reported aftershocks, 59 individuals were brought to Jose Sungco District Hosp. Porac, Pampanga due to injuries and authorities are still conducting search and rescue for 19 missing individuals,” the organization said.
The PRC mobilized nine ambulances, a rescue vehicle, and 29 of their staffers to various parts of Luzon in Metro Manila.

According to local officials, eight have been confirmed dead in Pampanga. Two came from Lubao, while three others were killed after a building collapsed in Porac.

Earlier, the Undersecretary Renato Solidum, Philippine Institute for Volcanology and Seismology (Phivolcs), announced that Porac and Lubao felt the quake at Intensity VI, after reports of damage in the two towns.
