LOOK: Long queues at Araneta Bus Terminal on Holy Wednesday

MANILA, Philippines — The volume of passengers going to spend the Holy Week break at the provinces continues to spike on Wednesday at the Araneta Bus Terminal in Cubao, Quezon City.

As of 9:30 a.m., passengers wanting to buy bus tickets started building-up at the various bus terminal outlets.

The number of bus passengers are expected to get larger as Wednesday afternoon approaches, an official of the bus terminal earlier said.

Some government offices have also declared half-day work on Wednesday to allow their employees more time to prepare for their Holy Week trips.

Malacañang also declared April 18 (Maundy Thursday) and April 19 (Good Friday) as regular holidays and April 20 (Black Saturday) as a special non-working day. /muf
