Fire destroys 20 cars in Manila traffic bureau impounding yard

Fire hits residential area in Pateros

MANILA, Philippines — Twenty cars caught fire at the Manila Traffic and Parking Bureau (MTPB) in Malate, Manila, on Thursday morning, authorities said.

According to the Malate police, the blaze began at about 3:20 a.m. at the MTPB Impounding Extension Area beside Shopwise Supermarket on A. Mabini Street.

Fire Chief Inspector Jemma Wee of the Manila Fire Department and other fire volunteers responded to the incident.

The blaze was put out after more than 30 minutes.

Authorities had yet to determine the cause of fire and cost of damage as of posting. /cbb
