MANILA, Philippines — Thick dark smoke filled part of the South Luzon Expressway (SLEX) in Muntinlupa City on Sunday afternoon as a 12-wheeler ice cream delivery truck caught on fire on the southbound lane of the busy highway.
Fire Officer 1 Reynold Ponce of the Muntinlupa City Fire Department told INQUIRER.net that a team was immediately deployed to the scene after receiving a report from the Skyway Patrol around 3:20 p.m.
The fire was put out at 3:47 p.m.
A video shared on Facebook by Lloyd Cimanes at the time of the fire shows the backside of the truck burning and emitting dark smoke.
No injuries were reported.
The delivery truck was declared partially damaged.
As of this posting, clearing operations are still underway as authorities are still investigating the cause of the fire.
The South Luzon Expressway Traffic Control Center said that the incident resulted in heavy traffic along the southbound lane of Alabang exit all the way to the Bicutan exit. /atm
