MANILA, Philippines – Authorities are looking into the death of a still unidentified man whose body was found floating in the Pasig River just below Del Pan Bridge in Manila Monday morning.
Police Officer 3 Amelito Lopez, case investigator from the Manila Police District, said that a security guard phoned authorities at around 6 a.m. after seeing the body floating underneath the bridge.
Responding police officers described the victim to be around 30 to 35 years of age, 5’7” in height, of medium build, and tattooed on his chest is the name “Zyrel Zamantha” and on his back is “Mar Quiambao Bahala na Gang”.
Lopez added that the victim was found barefoot, wearing a yellow long-sleeved shirt with “Maria Cristina Balangay Association” printed on its front and gray pants.
None of the residents in the area were able to identify the victim, the investigator said.
Although the body showed no signs of physical injuries, police still suspected that he may have been a victim of summary execution as his face was wrapped in duct tape while his hands and feet were bound with electrical cord.
The body was taken to Ivan Funeral Parlor for autopsy.
