MANILA, Philippines — Extreme Northern Luzon and Southern Mindanao will experience mostly cloudy skies with scattered rainshowers and thunderstorms as a frontal system is affecting Northern Luzon, the Philippine Atmospheric Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration (Pagasa) said Tuesday.

A frontal system is a weather system wherein cold and warm winds merge.

Skies will become cloudy with widespread rains over Batanes and Calayan Group of Islands while, the rest of the country will be partly cloudy to cloudy with isolated rainshowers or thunderstorms, the state-run weather bureau added.

Moderate to strong winds blowing from the Northeast and East will prevail over Northern and Central Luzon and coming from the east to southeast over the rest of Luzon and the coastal waters along these areas will be moderate to rough, Pagasa said.

Elsewhere, winds will be light to moderate blowing from the east to northeast with slight to moderate seas, it also said.
