2 Pangasinan teens drown in Agno River

DAGUPAN CITY — Two grade school pupils on Wednesday drowned in the Agno River in Alcala town in Pangasinan province, police said on Thursday.

Alfred Pinlac, 14, a Grade 6 pupil, and Adrian Palomino, 15, a Grade 9 student, did not make it to the hospital alive after rescuers found them unconscious in the river.

Pinlac and Palomino, residents of Barangay Tomling in Malasiqui town, went for a swim in the Agno River traversing Barangay Laoac in Alcala town with three other boys about 4 p.m.

Police said they all immediately took a dip in the river but Pinlac and Palomino were swept by the strong river current, prompting their companions to ask for help.

Palomino’s body was recovered at 5:10 p.m. while Pinlac was found around 6 p.m.

They were both taken to the Bayambang District Hospital in Bayambang town but were pronounced dead on arrival.
