MANILA, Philippines — Grab Philippines has banned the driver who was arrested for pointing a replica gun at a security guard in Makati, lawyer Nicka Hosaka, Public Affairs Manager of Grab, said on Tuesday.

Hosaka said Grab does not condone any action that would put the safety and security of its passengers.

“Grab does not condone such alarming behavior. We have already banned the driver from the platform as we continue our own internal investigation of the incident,” Hosaka said in a statement.

“We likewise extend our full cooperation to the authorities in support of their investigation,” she added.

Hosaka urged users of the ride-hailing app to remain vigilant and report any untoward incident and behavior “which puts the welfare of our community at risk.”

The Southern Police District identified the Grab driver as Hyron Henry Roscom, 31.

Authorities said Roscom pointed a gun at the security guard of a restaurant on Sunday, which led to his immediate arrest.

However, they found out later that the gun he used was only a replica of a .38-caliber revolver. /ee
