Cebu city chess classic set december 20-23

THE CEBU CHESS Association, in coordination with the National Chess Federation of the Philippines (NCFP), will end 2011 with a bang as it stages another FIDE-rated tournament on Dec. 20 to 23 dubbed the Cebu City Chess Classic at the Activity Center of the Elizabeth Mall.

A total of P75,000 cash prizes awaits the winners of the tournament, which will use a seven-round Swiss System format and is open for FIDE-rated and none-rated wood pushers.


To join the tournament, an onsite registration will be available on Dec. 20 at 9 a.m. to 12:00 noon. Registration fee for the regular competitors is pegged at P300 while P200 is for the students. Ladies and kiddies registration fee is pegged at P100.

The champion will bring home P25,000 in the open category while P15,000 awaits the second placer and P10,000 goes to the third placer. /CORRESPONDENT DALE G.ROSAL
