MANILA, Philippines — Thousands of riders from various motorcycle groups joined on Sunday the Unity Ride against discrimination and double big plates.

President Rodrigo Duterte recently signed Republic Act 11235, or the Motorcycle Crime Prevention Act of 2017, that mandates motorcycle riders to have bigger plates at the front and back of their bikes.

The law also aims to solve the riding in tandem crimes around the metro.

However, motorcycle groups said bigger plates on their bikes would pose danger to them and the public.

They also say that the law discriminates against motorcycle riders. /cbb
