Boy killed as truck rams fruit stand in Pangasinan

DAGUPAN CITY — A 3-year-old boy was killed while his parents were injured on Wednesday when a dump truck plowed through a fruit stand in Alaminos City in Pangasinan, police said.

Mike Genesis Quines died on the spot while his parents, Albert Quines, 31, and Michelle Quines, 32, are now undergoing treatment at the Western Pangasinan District Hospital in Alaminos City.

The truck was traversing the westbound lane of the bypass road at Barangay Palamis in Alaminos about 10 a.m. when the driver lost control of its brakes as it reached the Alaminos-Mabini Road and drove straight to the fruit stand.

The truck also hit four tricycles, which were parked in front of the fruit stand, according to SPO3 Randy Clemente, Alaminos police investigator.

The truck driver, Christian Ramos, 30, is now facing cases of homicide, multiple physical injuries and damage to property./lzb
