‘Wanted’ man dead in Laguna shootout

SAN PEDRO CITY — A man facing an arrest warrant for illegal drugs was killed in a shootout with the police in Calamba City in Laguna province on Thursday noon.

The slain suspect was identified as Ronnie Caagbay, 35, and a resident of Barangay (village) Parian.

Caagbay was charged with illegal drug use and sale, according to the arrest warrant issued by the regional trial court branch 27, said Laguna police director Sr. Supt. Eleazar Matta.

Matta said Caagbay shot but missed the approaching policemen identified as Police Officer 2 Michael Floria and PO1 Melchor Aguilando, during an operation around 11:40 a.m.
