LOOK: Green sea turtle slaughtered in Zambales

MANILA, Philippines — A photo of a slaughtered green sea turtle in Zambales was shared on Facebook on Wednesday by herpetologist Emerson Y. Sy, executive director of the Philippine Center for Terrestrial and Aquatic Research.

The photo shows the creature on a table with its exposed internal organs.

Sy said the Philippine National Police (PNP) Maritime Group seized the turtle from a vendor in Bangantalinga, Iba Zambales last March 17.

According to Sy, charges will be filed against the vendor, but the PNP has yet to reveal the name of the perpetrator. /atm
