Mother nabbed for selling ‘shabu’

A 52-year-old mother was arrested in a drug buy-bust operation in barangay Tejero, Cebu City last Saturday night.

Marissa Arcega said it was her live-in partner who instructed her to sell the suspected packs of shabu.

“I was just asked to sell the illegal drugs and I agreed so that I can have money for noche buena and medicine for my illness tuberculosis,” Arcega told Cebu Daily News in Cebuano.

Police said the woman sold a pack of suspected shabu to a policeman who acted as poseur buyer. They said the transaction happened inside the woman’s house past 10 p.m.

Recovered in the woman’s house were four big plastic packs and small sachets containing a white crystalline substance believed to be shabu, P2,500 cash and assorted drug paraphernalia.

Police said the seized shabu had a street value of P103,000.

The woman said the seized packs of suspected shabu were left by her husband, who was not around during the police operation.

The woman has five children who earns a living by operating a Bingo machine, doing laundry and offering massage services.

Chief Insp. Romeo Santander, chief of the City Intelligence Branch of the Cebu City Police Office, said Arcega had been involved in selling illegal drugs for almost year.
