‘High-value’ suspect dead in Laguna shootout

SAN PEDRO CITY — A suspected drug pusher was shot and killed in a buy-bust operation in San Pablo City in Laguna province on Saturday evening.

Chief Inspector Jojo Sabeniano, Laguna police spokesperson, identified the slain suspect as Jeffrey Cado, 34,  of Barangay (village) VI-E.

He said Cado sold an undercover police agent a sachet of suspected “shabu” (crystal meth) at about 8 p.m. when he must have realized it was a sting operation.

The suspect then allegedly drew and fired a .45-caliber pistol, prompting the police to return fire.

Cado sustained multiple bullet wounds and died on the way to the Pagamutang Panlalawigan ng Laguna. /cbb
