1 dead, 90 suspects fall in NCRPO string of anti-drug ops
MANILA, Philippines — A drug suspect was killed while 90 others were rounded up following a 24-hour anti-drug operation launched by the National Capital Region Police Office (NCRPO).
Data released by NCRPO chief Director Guillermo Eleazar showed the figure covers about 48 police operations conducted from 5 a.m. on Tuesday until 5 a.m. on Wednesday.
According to the NCRPO report, only one drug suspect identified as Chrisanto Patimo, 42, was killed following a series of operations.
Police said operatives of the Station Special Operations Unit and the Special Drug Enforcement Unit in Caloocan City were conducting surveillance on Patimo when he sensed their presence and allegedly pulled out a handgun and fired at the police officers.
Police returned fire and killed the suspect on the spot.
