MANILA, Philippines – Certain areas of the east zone of Metro Manila could experience up to 20 hours a day of no water service, the Manila Water said Wednesday.

Manila Water communications manager Dittie Galang said the east zone concessionaire would release a new advisory announcing a new scheme of water service interruptions.

“Within this morning, maglalabas kami ng panibagong advisory kung saan mayroon nang mga specific na oras ng schedule ng pagkawala ng tubig,” Galang said in an interview over dzMM.

“Mayroong mga lugar na aabutin ng hanggang 20 hours a day na walang tubig,” she added.

Galang said most barangays could experience 11 to 12 hours of water interruption, while others could experience only up to 6 hours of no water service.

She said that under the new scheme, water service interruptions would no longer be “concentrated” in one area and all areas in the east zone would experience no water service.

“Hopefully mas magiging predictable na yung pagdating ng tubig at yung pagkawala ng tubig, meron nang specific time at di lang concentrated sa isang lugar ang water interruption,” Galang said.

“Across the entire east zone ay merong tatamaan, mawawalan ng tubig, hihina ang pressure on certain hours of the day,” she added. /cbb
