Gems shoot for fourth straight win
CEBUANA Lhuillier will try for their fourth straight win and come closer to an outright seat in the semifinals as they go up against Boracay Rum in the PBA D-League Aspirants Cup today at the San Juan gym.
The Gems, who have won their last three games, are aspiring to finish in the top two at the close of the elimination round to gain outright passage in the Final Four. A win against the Waves (4-3) would give them a slight edge over co-leader Freego Jeans and NLEX (4-1) – two teams also in contention for the coveted seats.
The Waves are high on their ceiling with Yousif Taha got the green light to play after obtaining a certificate of recognition from the Bureau of Immigration and Deportation while Raymund Almazan is rejoining the team after missing three games to help his school team Letran Knights in its campaign in the Philippine Collegiate Championship League. Both Taha and Almazan stand at 6-foot-7.
In the other game scheduled at 2 p.m., Café France (2-3) aims to stretch its winning streak to three games to stay in contention for a quarterfinals berth when it takes on struggling PC Gilmore. /Correspondent Jonas Panerio
