Drug suspect slain in Nueva Ecija

A drug suspect was killed while another managed to escape during a buy-bust operation in Gapan City, Nueva Ecija on Tuesday morning.

Senior Supt. Leon Victor Rosete, chief of Nueva Ecija police, said Greggy Liwag, a resident of Barangay Matadero in this city, was shot dead after engaging policemen in a shootout in Barangay Sto. Cristo Norte about 4:30 a.m.

Liwag’s unidentified companion fled on board a motorcycle, Rosete said.

Investigators said Liwag was included in the police’s drug watch list.

Police recovered from the suspect a gun, a sachet of suspected “shabu” (crystal meth) and the marked money used in the operation.Armand Galang/lzb
