MANILA, Philippines — A few days after a policeman arrested for extortion received an earful from National Capital Region Police Office (NCRPO) chief Director Guillermo Eleazar, Metro Manila’s top cop berated another alleged “narco-cop” for not knowing the names of his superiors.

Eleazar on Thursday confronted PO1 Ferdinand Rafael, who was arrested by the police for allegedly selling “shabu” in an apartment in Sampaloc, Manila.

As he confronted the alleged rogue officer, Eleazar asked for the names of his superiors. However, Rafael can only recall their last names and even mistook Eleazar as the director of the Manila Police District (MPD).

“Ang sinasabi mo assigned ka sa traffic sector aid, ang sinasabi mo Captain Sarmiento [ang chief]. Hindi mo alam ang first name,” he told Rafael, who was assigned at the District Admin Holding Unit of the MPD.

Eleazar then asked the name of the MPD director, to which he replied “General Eleazar.”

“District director [ng] MPD!” the NCRPO chief clarified, raining on expletives to the policeman.

“Ah, si General Danao, Sir,” Rafael answered.

“Anong first name (What’s the first name)?” Eleazar asked. “Sir, hindi ko po alam (Sir, I don’t know),” the suspect said.

Chief Supt. Vicente Danao Jr., MPD chief, was beside Rafael during the intense interrogation. He even patted Rafael on the neck and said he would kill police officers if they catch them involved in drugs.

“Pag ako ang makakahuli sa inyo, papatayin ko kayo (If I catch you, I will kill you,” Danao said.

Eleazar lamented the arrest of another rogue cop, which followed the recent capture of police officers involved in kidnap-for-ransom and robbery-extortion.

“Hindi pwede na meron tayong kasamahan na ganito na involved sa droga (We cannot allow our policemen to be involved in drugs),” he said, as he slightly poked Rafael in the head.
