CEBU CITY—Police have yet to identify the motive in the killing of a man who was shot dead in front of a public school after dropping his son in Barangay Isidro, Talisay City, on Monday afternoon.
Investigators said they were still looking into the background of Jason Narrido and check if his death was related to illegal drugs or personal grudge.
Authorities also noticed that the victim’s motorcycle had a sticker of the Philippine National Police.
Narrido brought his son to the San Isidro Elementary School early Friday morning on board his motorcycle when the incident happened.
Before leaving, he stopped by a vendor to buy a pack of juice when one of the two men on board a motorcycle shot him.
Police Officer 3 Glenn Besande, Talisay police investigator, said the backrider went down from the motorcycle, placed his arm around Narrido and shot him four times, hitting him in the head and parts of his body.
The driver, on the other hand, warned the people nearby to stay away from their target.
After the shooting, the two then fled the crime scene.
Besande said the gunman wore a dark jacket and ball cap while the driver, a yellow helmet. /jpv
