MANILA, Philippines — The management of the Metro Rail Transit-3 (MRT-3) on Wednesday appealed to passengers not to lean on the train’s doors to avoid triggering a “door failure” glitch which will cause the train to stop.

The line’s management aired the appeal after one of its trains suffered a glitch at 6:34 a.m. on Wednesday and forced the offloading of 800 passengers at the line’s Ortigas station, southbound lane.

According to the MRT-3 management, the glitch was caused by door failure. The door failure glitch according to the line’s management was due to “stress on door components which may be caused by leaning on the door or forcing it open.”

The passengers who were offloaded at the Ortigas station were later allowed to board on a different train that arrived seven minutes later.

According to the MRT-3 line management, Wednesday’s service interruption was the fifth for this year. /muf
