LUCENA CITY, Philippines – A drunk butcher killed his drinking buddy during a drinking spree in Tagkawayan town in Quezon shortly before midnight Tuesday, police said.
Tagkawayan police chief, Captain Milo Tabernilla said victim Joel Geronda, 41, was drinking with some friends, including butcher Santiago Desdir, 56, during a birthday party in Barangay Kinatakutan at around 11:30 p.m.
Police said Desdir casually left the party and returned after a few minutes with a knife.
Without warning, Desdir first stabbed Geronda before slashing the victim’s neck. Geronda was killed on the spot.
Police said Desdir then fled on foot after the killing.
Tabernilla said the victim and the suspect had a heated argument prior to the killing. Desdir remains at large and is now being hunted. /muf
