Driver, 10 teachers hurt in vehicular collision in Cagayan

TUGUEGARAO CITY — Eleven people were injured when the passenger van carrying them was hit by a delivery van on the national highway at Barangay Bangag, in Lal-lo, Cagayan on Monday morning, police said.

Wounded were the driver of the passenger van and 10 teachers who were on their way to this city to attend a training and information drive on vote counting machines.

Jean Agustin, one of the injured teachers, said four of her fellow teachers were in critical condition, while four others were released from a hospital after getting stitches for their wounds.

Investigators said the delivery van was speeding as it overtook two cars before colliding with the victims’ passenger van.

The delivery van driver, whose identity was not yet known, would be charged with reckless imprudence resulting in multiple physical injuries. /atm
