Cops recover bike in pawnshop robbery

A BLACK motorcycle allegedly used by the suspects who robbed P2.5 million in cash and valuables from an M.Lhuillier pawnshop in Toledo City was recovered by police in barangay Subayon, Toledo City, yesterday.

Acting Toledo City police chief Insp. Bonifacio Lucerna said they are coordinating with the Provincial Intelligence Branch (PIB) to locate the suspects of last Friday’s robbery that resulted in the death of a pawnshop employee.

Provincial Police Director Senior Supt. Patrocinio Comendador ordered a manhunt on the suspects.

The suspects robbed a male teller of P2.5 million in cash and shot him down along the national highway in barangay Poblacion, Toledo City.

The male teller identified as Domingo del Pilar had just withdrawn the cash from the Toledo City branch of Metrobank located near the M.Lhuillier pawnshop when the robbery occurred.

The suspects sped away on board a motorcycle towards barangay Upper Poblacion, a mountain barangay that leads to Pinamungahan town.

The victim was a former overseas Filipino worker (OFW) who was employed for three months.

Del Pilar’s wife is a branch manager of another MLhuiller branch. They have a one-month-old baby.

The gunman reportedly wore a black jacket and a cap and stood about 5’10.”

Del Pilar was declared dead on arrival at the Toledo City Hospital.

His two fellow tellers who were with him during the robbery were safe.

The money the three had withdrawn was reportedly intended for yesterday’s transactions at the pawnshop. Correspondent Gabriel C. Bonjoc
