MANILA, Philippines — A magnitude 4.7 earthquake rocked the province of Ilocos Sur early Saturday, the Philippine Institute of Volcanology and Seismology (Phivolcs) said.
The quake struck at 4:51 a.m. and traced its epicenter 2 kilometers northeast of Sigay, Ilocos Sur, Phivolcs reported.
The tremor, which was of tectonic origin, had a depth of focus of 100 km.
The quake was felt at Intensity 4 in the municipalities of Sigay and Suyo in Ilocos Sur and Intensity 3 in the municipality of Sugpon also in Ilocos Sur.
It was felt at Intensity II in Vigan City, Baguio City, and Kibungan, Benguet.
Phivolcs said that no damage and aftershocks could be expected. /atm
