Alleged NPA member surrenders to CIDG in Masbate

MANILA, Philippines — An alleged member of the New People’s Army (NPA) has surrendered to the Criminal Investigation and Detection Group (CIDG) in the province of Masbate.

Based on the report of the CIDG Regional Field Unit 5, 30-year-old farmer Joseph Marterez alias Ka Jo, voluntarily surrendered to authorities on Wednesday afternoon in Sitio Hugoson, Brgy. Tinigban in the municipality of Aroroy.

The alleged NPA member also surrendered to the CIDG a homemade shotgun with magazine, a caliber .45 pistol, a magazine assembly, and 13 rounds of ammunition.

Marterez along with the surrendered firearms and ammunition were brought to Masbate CIDG Provincial Field Unit for proper documentation and disposition, authorities said. /kga
