Teacher nabbed for firearm, bullets in Oriental Mindoro

CITY OF CALAPAN – A teacher was arrested after police found a gun and assorted bullets in his house in Victoria town in Oriental Mindoro province Wednesday night.

Police, armed with a search warrant, collared Geronimo Ballesteros, 51, in Sitio (sub-village) Silangan in Barangay (village) Macatoc about 11 p.m., Supt. Socrates Faltado, acting Mimaropa police information officer, said.

Confiscated from him were a .45 caliber pistol, two magazines for a .45 caliber gun, 12 rounds of live ammunition also for a .45 gun, five rounds live bullets for a .22 caliber gun, one live ammunition for M203 grenade launcher, an empty shell for a .38 caliber gun, a black shoulder holster, and a green body/sling bag.

Faltado said Ballesteros would face charges for violation of the Comprehensive Firearms and Ammunition Regulation Act./lzb
