PBA Philippine Cup quarterfinal pairing to be known after double-header at Big Dome

The quarterfinal pairings will be known today as the elimination round of the 37th PBA Philippine Cup comes to a close  at the Araneta Coliseum.

The eliminated Alaska Aces take on the Rain or Shine Elasto Painters, while the league-leading Talk ‘N Text Tropang Texters play the Barangay Ginebra Gin Kings in the main game.

The Tropang Texters and the B-Meg Llamados have already taken the two twice-to-beat incentives. Talk ‘N Text leads the stadings with a 10-3 (win-loss) record, while B-Meg ended the eliminations with 10 wins and four losses.

The Painters and the Kings are tied for the fourth and fifth spots with similar 8-5 records. Occupying the third place are the Petron Blaze who tallied nine wins and five losses in the eliminations.

Tournament format states that in the quarterfinal round, the number one and two teams will be twice-to-beat against the number eighth and seventh squads, respectively.

The number three team will face the number six squad, while the number four team will take on the number five squad in a best-of-three affair.

The Aces are just looking to end their campaign on a decent note. Alaska got the boot after winning just three of their first 13 games. It will only be the third time since 1999 that Alaska failed to get past the elimination./editorial assistant calvin cordova
