Fire razes more than 20 houses in Lucena City
LUCENA CITY – A fire gutted more than 20 houses in Lucena City early morning Wednesday.
Supt. Reydante Ariza, Lucena police chief, said in a spot report that the blaze razed an undetermined number houses mostly owned by low-income residents in Barangay Market View.
The police said the fire started around 1 a.m. and lasted for about three hours.
The report said some persons also suffered minor injuries during the blaze. No casualty was reported.
Firemen were still conducting an investigation to determine the cause of the blaze.
Article continues after this advertisementBut according to some fire victims in a local radio interview, the blaze originated from one of the stoves of smoked fish or “tinapa” traders in the area.

The city government immediately provided emergency assistance to fire victims. /lzb
