MANILA, Philippines — Police arrested on Monday a man who allegedly attempted to abduct four children in Barangay Commonwealth, Quezon City by luring them through song numbers.

The Regional Special Operations Unit – National Capital Region Police Office on Tuesday identified the suspect as Norly Rafael, who allegedly tried to abduct minors aged four, seven, nine, and 11, in separate occasions since Thursday until Monday.

The children managed to flee form the suspect.

Investigators said the suspect usually sings before different households and soliciting donations while covertly looking for children to abduct.

Rafael was arrested after the parents of the victims reported the failed abduction attempts to village officials, who later relayed the information to the police.

Police said the suspect, who was identified as the man in a viral photo linked to the abduction of minors in the area, was beaten up by citizens following his arrest.

A report from the NCRPO also said that Rafael revealed he has cohorts in Tala, Caloocan City.

Pursuit operations failed to net Rafael’s accomplices.
