P6.3 M cocaine recovered off Dingalan, Aurora

CABANATUAN CITY, Philippines – A brick of cocaine worth an estimated P6.3 million, was fished out of the waters of Dingalan, Aurora by a fisherman Saturday night, local police authorities reported Monday.

The fisherman, identified only as “Mon-mon” of Gabaldon, Nueva Ecija, turned over the brick to authorities at about 1 p.m. on Sunday, according to Senior Supt. Leon Victor Rosete,  Nueva Ecija provincial police director.

The brick was wrapped with a plastic and sealed with rubber tape, Rosete said.

The brick was immediately brought to the Nueva Ecija Police Crime Laboratory Office, which confirmed Monday that the brick was indeed cocaine weighing 1.19 kilograms, Rosete added.

The Dangerous Drugs Board placed the prevailing price of cocaine at P5,300 per gram.

The cocaine will be brought to the Philippine National Police headquarters in Camp Crame, Quezon City for confirmatory tests.

Police units from Aurora and Nueva Ecija  are now conducting coordinated follow-up investigations./gsg
