PDEA destroys P1.9M marijuana in Benguet

BAGUIO CITY, Philippines — Some P1.9 million worth of marijuana plants were destroyed in two operations by the local police and the Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency in Benguet on Friday (Feb. 22) and Saturday (Feb. 23).

No suspects were arrested in the two separated operations, police said.

According to a police report, anti-drug teams uprooted and burned 7,200 fully grown marijuana plants grown in three sites (with a combined area of 900 square meters) at 7:45 a.m. on Saturday in Barangay (village) Tacadang at Kibungan town. The illegal plantations had marijuana worth P1.44 million.

At 8 a.m. on Friday in another plantation in Tacadang, the teams destroyed another 2,400 marijuana plants worth P480,000. /muf
