One man from Deer Park, Texas has been arrested and charged with felony injury to a child.
The charge comes after the man, identified as James Olander Peace, slapped a 12-year-old boy across the face. As per KTRK on Feb. 18, the man accused the boy of bullying his stepdaughter.
Peace’s wife, who asked to remain anonymous, said her husband was only sticking up for her daughter. The boy and his friend apparently bullied her daughter while walking home from school.
“Saying that her body was ugly, said that she was a transvestite, started throwing ice cream at her and then they picked up the rocks,” she was quoted as saying. Her daughter, then, called her stepfather to pick her up for a ride home.
“On the drive home, they happened to see the [juvenile suspect] walking,” Deer Park Police Lt. Chris Brown said in the report. “That’s when the stepdad decided to stop and confront the kid.”
Peace approached the boy, shouted at him and eventually hit him across the face. He also warned him not to report the incident to the authorities or he would be beaten up.
“He was slapped across the face with an open hand, had red marks and swelling to his cheek and upper jaw,” added Brown.
Meanwhile, Peace’s wife does not agree to her husband’s actions and said he went too far by slapping the boy.
“I do not agree with what he did,” she said. “He took it too far, he did.” Cody Cepeda/JB
