2 dead in road accidents in La Union, Ilocos Sur

DAGUPAN CITY — Two motorcycle riders were killed on Monday in separate road accidents in the provinces of La Union and Ilocos Sur, police said on Tuesday.

Edwin Selga, 34, was traversing the eastbound lane of the Aspiras Highway in Barangay Macalva Sur in Agoo town, La Union at 12:45 p.m. when his motorcycle collided with a passenger bus, which was on the opposite lane.

Selga suffered head injuries. He was brought to La Union Medical Center in Agoo but was declared dead on arrival.

In Ilocos Sur, Edgar Plete, 36, died after his motorcycle was sideswiped by an Isuzu elf truck as they traversed the southbound lane of the Manila North Road at Barangay Olo-olo Norte in Santiago town.

Plete, who was thrown off his motorcycle, suffered head and body injuries. He died while being taken to the Candon General Hospital in Candon City. Gabriel Cardinoza/lzb
