Business eyed as motive in Yulo shooting on Edsa
MANILA, Philippines — Investigators are looking at business as a probable motive in the murder of a businessman and his driver along Edsa on Sunday, National Capital Region Police Office chief Director Guillermo Eleazar said Monday.
Jose Luis Yulo and driver Allan Nomer Santos were onboard a Toyota Grandia when they were shot at by motorcycle-riding gunmen in front of a hospital in Barangay Highway Hills, Mandaluyong City, at about 3:30 p.m. on Sunday.
They died from gunshot wounds while being treated at the Victor Potenciano Medical Center.

The victim is a namesake of Jose Luis U. Yulo Jr., president of the Chamber of Commerce of the Philippine Islands.
Article continues after this advertisement“Business is one thing na (that) we are considering. But hindi ibig sabihin na iyan na ‘yan (But it does not mean that it’s final),” Eleazar told INQUIRER.net.
Article continues after this advertisementEleazar said police are not discounting other possible angles in the shooting of Yulo, who reportedly had a number of businesses here in Metro Manila and in Laguna, and whom police believed was the clear target of the crime.
He said a special investigation task group dubbed “SITG Yulo” is looking at previous transactions of the victim before the murder.
Police have secured copies of CCTV footage showing the suspects, who wore black jackets and blue and black helmets during the shooting incident. Investigators have yet to identify the assailants. /cbb
