BOC seizes guns, ammo in Pasay warehouse
MANILA, Philippines—Half a million pesos worth of misdeclared guns and ammunition were seized by the Bureau of Customs (BOC) in a warehouse in Pasay City Wednesday.
In a statement Friday, the BOC said it seized eight pistols, 20 ammunition magazines and 226 bullets in the operation. Among the seized pistols were a Glock 19 and a Heckler & Koch P2000 V3.
The BOC said the seized guns and ammunition were found in two outbound packages from Taiwan which were declared as “Solar Panel” and “Tool Cart.”
The contraband were discovered through the profiling by the BOC Naia and a subsequent X-ray examination of the shipments.
Exportation of firearms and ammunition through fraudulent misdeclaration and without necessary permits constitute violation of Section 119A, 1400, 1113 of the Customs Modernization and Tariff Act (CMTA) and Republic Act 10591 or Comprehensive Firearms and Ammunition Regulation Act. /muf
