Duterte bares law school outburst, asks Filipinos to be more assertive

MANILA, Philippines – President Rodrigo Duterte revealed on Thursday that he once tossed a chair at a “terror” professor at the San Beda College of Law who rained expletives on him.

Duterte made the revelation as he urged taxpayers to be more assertive against red tape in government offices.

“Kayo rin kasi. That’s the problem with the Filipinos. Ayaw ninyong mag-assert. Ayaw ninyong mag-ano. Konting tapang lang naman ‘yan eh,” he said at the campaign sortie of Partido Demokratiko Pilipino-Lakas ng Bayan in San Jose del Monte City, Bulacan.

Duterte said people requesting documents from government agencies should assert that they are taxpayers and deserve efficient service.

“Sinabi ko na nga sa inyo eh ‘pag ayaw ibigay ‘yung permit mo, barilin mo. Sabihin mo p***** i**** ‘to. Pilipino ako, pinagkakwartahan pa ako,” he said.

(If they refuse to release a permit, shoot them. Tell them I am a Filipino and you and making money from me.)

Duterte then shared the story about his encounter with his college professor.

He said the professor called him out for supposedly smiling as he entered the classroom.

“Sabi niya ‘Why are you smiling?’ Sabi ko, ‘Sir, I wasn’t smiling. Maybe before you came in.’ … Eh sabay, ‘You are smiling.’ Sabi ko, ‘Sir, hindi ako and I would not do that. There is nothing funny in this room now,’” the President said.

Despite his denial, Duterte said his professor insisted that he smiled.

“‘Ah,’ sabi ko, ‘Gano’n?’ Hinatak ko ‘yung silya ko, itinapon ko sa kanya. Tapos nauna pa ako [pumunta] doon sa dean. Sabi ko sa pari, ‘P****** i** nitong animal na ‘to pati ‘tong eskwelahan na ito,’” the President said.

(I pulled out a chair and hurled it to him. I then went to the Dean’s office to report the incident and told the priest, damn that professor, and this school.)

“P***** i** ninyo, nagbabayad ako ha. Ang nanay ko ang nagpapadala ng tseke sa inyo buwan-buwan. Bakit mo ako murahin p***. Magagalit ka sa akin. Ano mo ako? Alipin? P***** i** kayong lahat,” he added.

(I told them we are paying tuition, my mother sends you a check monthly.  Am I your slave?)

Duterte said he even cursed at the college dean while reporting the incident.

‘“Sige, expel… Subukan ninyo. Sunugin ko itong San Beda. P****** i** ninyo.’” he said.

(Try to expel me,  I will burn San Beda.)

“Kaya ganun. Kayo, huwag kayong pumayag na lokohin kayo,” he added.
