LUCENA CITY – A wanted felon was killed by the police after he allegedly resisted arrest and fought back in Infanta town in Quezon province on Wednesday, police said.
A policeman was also hit in the shootout.
Combined operatives from Infanta and General Nakar towns were about to arrest Jeffrey Astrera when he reportedly drew his caliber .38 revolver, fired at the policemen and ran to escape, said a report from Senior Supt. Osmundo de Guzman, Quezon police director.
A running gun battle ensued that left Astrera dead and one of the operatives wounded in Barangay Bantilan around 1:30 p.m.
PO3 Jerry Moises, assigned in General Nakar town station, suffered a gunshot wound on his left leg.
Police tagged the slain felon as wanted for cases of robbery and violation of the law on Violence Against Women and Children. Delfin T. Mallari Jr./lzb
