MANILA, Philippines — With only 20 percent of votes for the second round of Bangsamoro Organic Law (BOL) plebiscite canvassed, the Commission on Elections (Comelec) adjourned Monday’s en banc session and moved the proceedings to Tuesday.
“Since they (tabulation and audit groups) were not yet through with their tabulation and audit, as such, we will resume our proceedings tomorrow, February 12, 2019, at 4 p.m.,” Comelec Chairman Sheriff Abas said.
The tabulation and audit groups of the poll body, however, will continue to canvass votes until 11 p.m.
The votes being canvassed by the Comelec were for the second round of the BOL plebiscite held on February 6 in Lanao del Norte and North Cotabato.
Residents in the said areas voted if they want to be included in the newly established Bangsamoro region.
The Comelec, sitting as the National Plebiscite Board of Canvassers, resumed its session at 2:30 p.m. Monday to canvass the votes for the second round of the plebiscite. /ee
