Man with 193 counts of rape falls in Pampanga raid
MANILA, Philippines —A man who was charged with 193 counts of rape was arrested in Pampanga on Saturday morning, Criminal Investigation and Detection Group (CIDG) said.
CIDG officials identified the suspect as Anthony Nopat, 36, who has been into hiding for the last two years.
Agents of the CIDG Camarines Norte and CIDG-Police Force Unit (PFU) Angeles City arrested Nopat after a witness informed the police that the suspect was seen in Angeles City, Pampanga.
Detectives of CIDG Regional Field Unit 5 led by Police Supt. Arnold Ardiente and CIDG-Angeles City collaborated the information on the whereabouts of the suspect.
Nopat went into hiding after his own daughter accused him of sexual molestation multiple times.
Article continues after this advertisementWith this, Nopat was finally arrested in Purok 3, Brgy. Tabon in Angeles City, Pampanga at 3:20 a.m.
Article continues after this advertisementNopat’s arrest stemmed from an arrest warrant issued on March 27, 2017 by Judge Evan Dizon of the Regional Trial Court Branch 40 in Daet, Camarines Norte.
The suspect is facing charges for violation of Republic Act 7610 or Special Protection of Children Against Abuse, Exploitation and Discrimination Act as stated in Criminal Case Nos. 18021 to 1844: 18099 to 18134: 18161 to 18166: 18168 to 18184: 18198 to 18221: 18224 to 18247: 18263 to 18278: 18280 to 18288: 18311 to 18347.
The suspect was turned over to authorities to face his court cases while his 17-year-old daughter was referred to the “local social welfare development office for psychosocial intervention.” /jpv
