Speeding motorcycle kills pedestrian crossing Marcos Highway

MANILA, Philippines — An unidentified man was killed Tuesday night after being hit by a motorcycle while crossing the road along Marcos Highway in Marikina City.

Initial investigation showed that the man was crossing the road along Barangka bridge in Barangay Vista Industrial Valley Complex, when a motorcycle driven by Baquiran Augusto came speeding and hit the victim at 7:50 p.m.

The victim, who was surprised to see a motorcycle coming his way, was thrown several feet upon impact.

Agusto, 27, was along the east side direction of Marcos Highway when the incident happened.

As a result, the two individuals sustained injuries and were immediately brought to Amang Rodriguez Memorial Medical Center.

However, the still unidentified pedestrian was declared dead on arrival.

The driver of the motorcycle was taken into custody by the police to face criminal charges. /jpv
