Magnitude 4.8 quake jolts Ilocos Sur
MANILA, Philippines — A magnitude 4.8 earthquake shook Ilocos Sur on Monday night, the Philippine Institute of Volcanology and Seismology (Phivolcs) said.
In its earthquake bulletin, Phivolcs reported that the temblor struck one kilometer (km) northwest of Salcedo, Ilocos Sur, at 8:55 p.m.
The quake of tectonic origin had a depth of 84 km.
Intensity IV was felt in Santiago, Ilocos Sur, and the towns of Curimao and Badoc in Ilocos Norte.
Intensity III was felt in Vigan City, Sinait, Magsingal, San Vicente, Cervantes, San Ildefonso, Burgos, Caoayan, San Esteban, Sigay, San Juan, San Emilio and Nagbukel, Ilocos Sur.

Phivolcs said no damage or aftershocks were expected from the earthquake. /cbb
