His remains were brought to the St. Francis Funeral Homes in N. Bacalso Avenue, Cebu City.

His 24-year-old wife Vanessa and 3-year-old son McXavier Vaughne are still recovering at the hospital.

The accident happened less than a week after three friends died when a motorcycle they rode on slammed into a parked trailer truck along the national highway of Mingnanilla town near Naga City last May 25.

Bardos’ younger brother, Mark John, said Vanessa sustained injuries in her nose and other parts of the body while their 3-year-old child had minor injuries.

Naga police have yet to verify reports that Mark Arnold was drunk when the accident occurred.

Mark John said his brother’s family had a summer outing with other school staffers in a beach in Argao town since last Saturday until Monday morning.

He said Vanessa wanted to go home last Sunday because her mother-in-law, grandmother and Mark John are scheduled to leave for Cataingan, Masbate.

Mark John said they were supposed to leave at 8 p.m. last Sunday but they cancelled the trip after the accident.

“We did not expect this to happen. We were about to leave for Masbate when we got a call about the accident,” Mark John said.

Based on a Naga City police precinct report, Bardos drove his Honda motorcycle with his family in tow when they crashed into a parked asphalt paver along the national highway in Colon, Naga City.

P01 Ronjie Nadorra, Naga City police desk officer said, the asphalt paver had no early-warning device.

A spotter was assigned at the site when the accident happened.

Nadorra said the asphalt paver driver Edwin Gonzales, a resident of Yati, Liloan town in Cebu, was unloading asphalt at Gate 2 of the Korean Electric Power Corp. (Kepco) Salcon Power Corp. at the time of the accident.

The asphalt paver is owned by Doros Development Corp., which is contracted by Kepco-SPC to do the asphalting work at the gate and the Kepco compound, Nadorra said.

Nadorra said Gonzales is presently detained at the police precinct, but a representative of Doros Development Corp. chief Robert Israel went to the police precinct to arrange a settlement.

The police officer said Israel assured financial assistance to Bardos’ mother.

When asked if the family will press charges, Mark John said it’s up to his parents to do so.

He said Vanessa was unaware about her husband’s death because of her delicate condition.
