MANILA, Philippines — Former presidential spokesperson Harry Roque on Friday officially withdrew from the Senate race after submitting his Statement of Withdrawal to the Commission on Elections (Comelec).
Comelec Spokesperson James Jimenez confirmed Roque’s submission of his Statement of Withdrawal. This officially withdraws his certificate of candidacy, which he filed on Oct. 17, 2018.
Jimenez said Roque’s name would be removed from the ballot “once the formal and procedural requirements of the withdrawal have been fulfilled.”
Roque cited “health” reasons for withdrawing from the senatorial race. /muf
