MANILA, Philippines — A college student from Cavite has featured her dog, which she considers a “son,” in her graduation photo.

Facebook user Giselle Jane Medina David posted a photo of her graduation picture hugging her adorable shih tzu, Iñaki.

David and her “son” are also wearing an orange and black toga in the photo. She posted on Facebook on Wednesday: “Hindi porket nagkaanak ng maaga hindi na makakagraduate 🤣” (If one has a child early, it doesn’t mean one cannot graduate.)

David graduated with a Bachelor of Science degree in Business Administration, Major in Human Resources Management, from Cavite West Point College.

She told INQUIRER.net that Iñaki also deserves her college diploma because her dog was her inspiration in finishing her studies.

“Yung dog ko po kasi din talaga iyong naging inspirasyon ko sa madugong thesis, pag sobrang stressed na, sya yung nagpapawala kaya deserved din nya yung diploma ko (My dog has served as my inspiration while doing the thesis. In very stressful situations, he calms me so he deserves my diploma, too),” she said via Facebook.

David also expressed her appreciation for her dog’s love and loyalty.

“Lagi siya andyan for me hindi niya ako iniwan kahit hindi siya nagsasalita, mararamdaman mo yung love and loyalty niya sayo kaya sa lahat ng achievements ko kasama ko at isasama ko siya (He is always there for me. He doesn’t leave me, and even if he doesn’t speak, you will feel his love and loyalty. So he will always be with me),” she said. /ee
