Shopinas.com winds up winless

THE B-MEG LLAMADOS secured the second and final twice-to-beat advantage by dispatching the Shopinas.com Clickers, 86-74, last night in the 37th PBA Philippine Cup at the Araneta Coliseum.

The Llamados extended the tournament’s longest winning streak to eight, ending the elimination round with nine wins and five losses.

Talk ‘N Text has taken the first twice-to-beat edge. The Tropang Texters lead the standings with a 10-3 (win-loss) and still has one game left.

Joe De Vance spearheaded the Llamados with 18 points, while Josh Urbiztondo and Mark Pingris added 11 points each.

Peter June Simon was the fourth Llamado to score in twin digits with 10 points.

With the loss, the Clickers ended up with a winless campaign in its maiden tournament.

The Clickers became the first team in league history to lose 14 straight outings and end a conference without a victory.

The defunct Country Fair also did not win a single game in a conference by dropping all 13 of its matches. Presto also lost its first 13 games in 1982 then won two of its last five for a 2-16 record.

James Sena paced the Clickers with a game-high 20 points, while Elmer Espiritu and Pong Escobal added 16 and 12, respectively.

The Clickers’ dismal campaign was something that was expected after they paraded a team composed of unheralded rookies and fading journeymen.  EDITORIAL ASSISTANT CALVIN D. CORDOVA
