Fire razes 9 houses in Eastern Samar
ORMOC CITY—Nine houses made of light materials were razed about 10 p.m. Tuesday in Barangay 4, Taft, Eastern Samar.
The fire started at the dirty kitchen of a certain Albert Sabillano, according to Taft Rescue 621 President Leonardo Balmes.
The Municipal Social Welfare and Development has distributed food packs containing rice, noodles, coffee, sugar, and sardines, said Taft Mayor Marian June Libanan.
She said they were putting the displaced families to a temporary shelter and extended P10,000 each for their livelihood and educational assistance for their children whose school supplies were gutted by fire.
She added that the office of Gov. Dindo Pecardal has also assured the fire survivors of help.
